Years ago, I believed that web statistics should only be counted using server side tools, not JavaScript (JS) based on clients. The primary reason was: JS is not always executed by user agents (client), while server does.
The easiness of Google Analytics's setup, then its user interface, changed my mind. Soon after that, I always add GA as always installed feature on almost every website I managed. From raw inserted code onto HTML to auto detected as WordPress' plug-in, Analytics ends my Web pages.
Unfortunately, based on efficiency issues, some Net cafés here block access to Analytics' server, make calculation becomes less accurate.
